Regional disparity and Mitigation cost for carbon policy in China ——Assessment based on multi-regional CGE model

چکیده
Literature review shows that most economic analyses of climate change have focused on the international cross-section analysis on the impact of mitigation actions. This paper departs in disaggregating the impact by provinces in one country, focusing particularly on industrial structure and income disparities between different provinces in China. With different economic growth, there exists substantial difference for energy consumption and carbon emission between provinces in China. In 2008, the highest carbon emission per GDP is about six times of the lowest carbon intensity. Therefore, it is expected carbon mitigation will result in different effect on different provinces. This paper will build a multi-regional computable general equilibrium model for China, which contains 31 provinces. Uniform carbon tax is imposed across provinces to achieve different carbon mitigation. Different carbon policies will be simulated based on the multi-regional CGE model and its effect on regional disparity will be analyzed. Table of contents

Efficiency or Equity? Simulating the Carbon Emission Permits Trading Schemes in China Based on an Inter-Regional CGE Model
Energy conservation and greenhouse gas (GHG) abatement have been included in the national development strategy of China, however, the rigidity in command-and-control, absence of market-mechanism and arbitrariness in assignment of abatement burden across regions have caused unnecessary losses in both economic efficiency and social equity. In this paper, we established an Inter-Regional CGE model...

Based on the China Regional Input-Output tables 2002 and other data from various sources, a 30 regions recursive dynamic computable general equilibrium model (CGE) was constructed to study the effect of inter-regional labor migration in China. This model has taken into account of many characteristics of migration in China, such as wage gap between migration and local workers, population migrati...

Regulatory measures have proven the favored approach to climate change mitigation in the U.S., while market-based policies have gained little traction. Using a model that resolves the U.S. economy by region, income category, and sector-specific technology deployment opportunities, this paper studies the magnitude and distribution of economic impacts under regulatory versus market-based approach...

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of import of technology on Iranian Economy. We have used multi-sectoral and multi–regional computable general equilibrium GTAP model. Transfer of technology from one region to another is another factor effecting productivity. Trade is one of the channels that speeds the transfer of technology. The effect of a ten percent productivity shock, in...
